How coconut oil rocked my world and why you'll love it too!

Coconut Oil has become my obsession.
*Stands up* HI, my name is Double_Frick, and I'm a coconut oil-aholic. I began my affair with this oil for my scalp! I was having issues with dandruff and itchy scalp; the OTC shampoos didn't work and all the chemicals made me nervous not to mention being counterproductive. So in my search for a more natural alternative I stumbled on the seemingly boundless benefits of Coconut oil! Not Only is coconut oil a great cure for dandruff and itchy scalp, it can also repair damaged hair. A study done in India found that coconut oil actually prevents protein loss in hair and effectively penetrates the hair shaft for maximum moisture-power making hair strong and healthy, that’s pretty amazing for such a simple, affordable product. So to wrap up my dandruff issue (and maybe yours as well)
Coconut Oil Scalp Stimulator Treatment
1 cup coconut oil
1 tsp tea tree oil
4 drops cedarwood essential oil
2 drops ylang ylang
Even just warm coconut oil works great too. Then I massage the blend onto my scalp and leave it for at least 30 minutes, but I usually leave it for a few hours to really allow it to penetrate the hair and scalp. Then wash it really well and condition as usual. Done once a week your hair stylist will start telling you that you have the softest hair they've ever seen and even have other stylists come over to cop a feel of your luscious locks! This happens to me every time I go get my hair cut, it's fabulous!
Coconut oil is also a great moisturizer for ALL skin types, it will give you the balance your skin needs and it absorbs so it won't stay greasy! Coconut oil is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. This paired with it being non-toxic it's an unstoppable force (in your medicine cabinet!) Coconut oil can actually improve skin elasticity and prevent signs of aging and sun damage. When I've had a late night and my eyes are evidence in the morning I pat a light layer of coconut oil where the bags are and within 10 minutes my eyes look noticeably fresher and brighter! Coconut oil is practically a miracle! I literally use it all over my body and my boyfriend swoons over my immaculate skin, it’s even improved my cellulite! Whenever I get out of the shower before I dry off I massage a generous amount of coconut oil all over and let it soak in. I never need lotion anymore, but when I do put coconut oil on first it seems to last longer and work better. Rub a good amount on your feet and kick them up while it soaks in, you'll thank me!

Adding Coconut Oil Is Delicious and Simple!
Dr. Bruce Fife, author of The Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil states, "Coconut oil is the healthiest oil on earth." More and more evidence is coming out to support the miraculous claims of coconut oil. One of the reasons coconut oil is so healthful inside and out is Lauric Acid.
Lauric acid has been shown to activate 20% of otherwise dormant thyroid hormone, naturally increasing metabolism! This is amazing for those trying to lose weight as it keeps the cravings at bay while increasing metabolism and flushing toxins out of your body! You can reap the rewards of coconut oil by adding 3-4 tablespoons to your diet and/or daily moisturizing regimen. Adding coconut oil as a substitute for butter or oil in baking or blending up smoothies is a delicious and simple way to get these benefits. Some people will even eat spoonfuls of coconut oil, its that palatable! Coconut oil will speed up and augment any weight loss plan.
For those of you who do not like the taste of coconuts, have no fear, skin absorbs coconut oil well and the effects you expect from internal usage you will also get by applying topically! So in addition to he nutritive benefits for your epidermis and then some, your body absorbs and uses the coconut oil internally for a great thyroid boost from the outside in!
Get Ready For Rapid Results!
Coconut oil is simple to add to your daily diet and delicious as well. The first few days of beginning with your coconut oil you may notice some slight flu-like symptoms; this is called the die-off effect and just shows that the coconut oil is doing its job showing the nasty toxins in your body the door. Unfortunately that means the back-door for most; this will pass in a few days and is absolutely nothing to worry about. Things you can do to decrease this effect is to begin adding coconut oil to your diet slowly, starting with 1 tablespoon a day for a day or two and then 2 tablespoons a day and so on until you reach 3-4 tablespoons a day. Stay well hydrated and eat fresh vegetables and light, healthy foods. As soon as you get through this mild, transient stage of discomfort you will begin noticing the radiance that coconut oil gives abundantly!

Absolutely great hub.I like the way you let your thoughts flow on to the page.
You are going to make a Big Splash on HP.
Only thing is
I Cant even break this damn coconut open!lol
Nice work! This is a good and convincing hub. More text capsules maybe? I really think it is good. :)
Hey. good one. I give it a rate up. Add a nice you tube video like I have put on my hub.It will increase the attractiveness and improve the score too .
Let me follow you.
Well written, I like coconut oil too. Although years ago I used baby oil on my hair because mine was so dry. It helped too
You could add some amazon capsules for the coconut oil and get some sales at the same time
I can vouch for Nutiva Organic. A cup seems like a lot of coconut oil just for your scalp though. I use it as a moisturizer but mostly to cook with. The 54 ounce jar lasts me over a year. The only think you need to be careful of is ordering in the summer. At 76 degrees the coconut oil turns to liquid and if it gets tipped over in the Delivery Truck it can run out of the container.
Thanks I need to try this!
Thanks for the information. I have been reading about coconut oil recently and have been wanting to try it out as a bath oil. Do you have any experience cooking stove top with it? I would really like to order some soon and play around with it.
Thank you again.
Great Hub! Coconut oil is good for many uses - Dr. Mercola praises it and also praises Dr. Bruce Fife's book. I haven't bought the book yet, but I will soon. Thanks for the info!
Wow, excellent stuff. I already use neat, melted coconut oil on my scalp as a pre-wash treatment, but the tea trea oil/cedarwood/ylang-ylang thing sounds even better. And I didn't realise it had all those marvellous nutritional properties as well.
I have found Emu oil to be a good treatment.
Great hub, Coconut oil is absolutely amazing! I think we wrote our articles on it around the same time, mine is relative to healing eczema by using coconut oil though. Take a look if you would like http://hubpages.com/hub/eczemasufferers

I am desperate and will do anything to get rid of dandruff... will be trying out this recipe of yours for sure!
Great post. I am from the caribbean and i grew up with coconut oil,my grandmother used to and still makes it.we use it on our body and in our food....growing up my grandmother woul make the oil and add rosemary and canfor in it for my cold she would rub my chest and put it in my scalp and it worked wonders. she made it for me 1 yr ago when i went back home for my twins for their cold. miraculous. Any way a few years back i remember a few american doctors came and have a forum and talk about coconut being bad for you, but no one really took hid to their words because for generations upon generations we have seen what coconut oil has done for us caribbean people.
